Bobi Wine Meets Top USA Officials

On March 17, leader of opposition in parliament Mathias Mpuuga hosted a delegation from the US Department of State led by Lisa Peterson, the assistant secretary for democracy, human rights and labor, and Natalie Brown, the US ambassador to Uganda.

During the visit of US government officials, NUP leader Bobi Wine and party secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya attended.

According to Mpuuga, Lisa and Natalie had come up to follow up on reports of human rights violations.

Mpuuga said NUP would not give up on its campaign to end all forms state-sponsored violence and rights violations.

As expected, Bobi Wine and his fellow NUP leaders reported the Museveni state and its security agencies for reportedly arresting, detaining and torturing Ugandans, including critics.

This is not the first time Bobi Wine is reporting Museveni to the western powers. Weeks ago, he reported the Ugandan president to the EU Parliament and sought help to remove Gen Museveni from power.
