Chaos surrounding the leading opposition outfit National Unity Platform will take centre stage as Moses Kibalama Nkonge’s NUP faction unveils news offices from Kabowa away from Kamwokya the known headquarters of Bobi Wine’s NUP faction.
Last month, we reported how Kibalama and other founding members of the National Unity and Reconciliation Party (NURP) that later turned into National Unity Platform convened a national delegates conference which saw many notable figures in Kamwokya releived of their party duties.
Among those fired by Kibalama was party spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi who was replaced by Gideon Tugume who even addressed the media today as Kibalama’s faction unveiled the news offices. Party Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya was also shown the exit and replaced by Simbwa Paul Kagombe. The only person retained was Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine who was overthrown as the party president but appointed Secretary for foreign affairs.

As the coup in NUP gained momentum, Kamwokya issued a statement where they labeled Kibalama and his group as crooks who shouldn’t be given attention. According to the statement that was released indicated that the Delegates Conference sits once in every five years to elect new leaders and therefore the Kibalama faction is an illegal outfit.
