Speaker Oulanyah’s burial committee announced
Following the death of Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Jacob Oulanyah President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed the Minister for Presidency Milly Babalanda as Chairperson of the committee in-charge of the burial.




The Deputy Presidential Press Secretary Faruk Kirunda has confirmed that Minister Babalanda will head the committee for Speaker Oulanyah’s burial and the Minister is expected to release the tentative burial program any time from now.
According to a social media tweet from President Museveni, Oulanyah died today Sunday 20th March, 2022 after long time illness.



“Countrymen and Countrywomen.
It is with a lot of sadness that I announce the death of the Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah, the Speaker of Parliament” President Museveni tweeted.
According to the President, he got the information of this sad news earlier in the day from People that have been with Oulanyah and the Doctor that was taking care of the deceased in the intensive care unit but he delayed to announce the death until his children were informed.




President Museveni described the late Jacob Oulanyah as a good Cadre of the ruling National Resistance Movement.
Hon Oulanyah who was last seen in Parliament on December 21st 2021, a d was last month flown to Seattle in United States of America to receive specialised treatment.



Last year, shortly after his swearing-in as speaker, Oulanyah disappeared from the public eye for a month after presiding over Parliament at the reading of the 2021/2022 financial year budget at Kololo Independence grounds and his Deputy Anita Among has been in charge of the Parliamentary business and earlier reports had indicated that Hon Oulanyah was battling COVID-19 illness.
