It used to be a case of old potbellied men, young sassy ladies and fat wallets.
However, with time, things seem to have changed. Rich older women have been taking notes even in a conservative Uganda.
There is an ever-increasing number of randy, old rich women who are constantly on the prowl for either genuine companionship or flings. There are no qualms about cross-generational dating.
Some of these ladies have learnt that money buys forbidden freedom and are exploiting it with reckless abandon.
We are not saying Levixone Lubyogo Lala sniffed Desire Luzinda’s dollars before making that lifetime commitment that has had many talking.
These two are Born-again Christians, who must have read Ephesians 5:25-33, which says marriage is not about age difference. The Bible does not have any specific ruling on minimum or maximum age. We shall not dwell much on Desire Luzinda and Levixone.
If their ages on Wikipedia are to be considered, it is just a four-year gap. She is 37 and he is 33. We shall not listen to Desire’s A’level classmates at Makerere High, who are counting the months before they apply for NSSF mid-term.
There have been many before them. We shine a torch.
Sylvia Owori
Celebrated fashion guru Sylvia Owori once sent the grapevine in overdrive when she openly dated a buff-bodied kickboxer Malik Kaliisa then 25. They painted the city red.
At the time Kaliisa waltzed around like a tube of toothpaste all squeezed to the top with arms akimbo.
He lapped in the attention. Owori was smarting from a separation from her husband, Per Munk Neilsen.
With a supportive Owori, Kaliisa vowed to revive his kickboxing career. He was beaten like a chicken thief in the ring by Titus Tugume. Both he and Sylvia Owori cried on the night. The relationship ended shortly after.
Prima Nassozi “Kardash”
She loves them young and has them on a leash. She easily gets bored and has no qualms throwing them out once the expiry date arrives.
The mother and businesswoman dated a younger Geosteady had two children with him and then red-carded him in 2020.
She got a suave and eloquent young boy in Henry Arinaitwe (Mr. Henrie).
During their time together, they were every inch the loved-up couple as they openly kissed and wrapped their arms around each other.
Every facet of their private life was shared on social media. Many were shocked when she woke up this week and flushed him out.
Nalongo Maggie Kiweesi
Nalongo Maggie lives by the mantra that the younger the better. She is in her early 40s and by the look of things, she loves men who give her renewed hope than memories.
She dated the Mayanja’s last born, Emma Mayanja ‘AK 47’ (RIP).
When he passed on, she found solace in the arms of a younger budding singer, Deus Ndugwa (Grenade Official), then 22, who also seemed to have his hands full.
She recently capped it by making things official with another musician, Faisal Sseguya (Raba Daba). They live as man and wife.
Zari Hassan
This one is the queen herself. Her CV is so impressive she only compares to Hollywood actress and longtime socialite Zsa Zsa Gabor, who married nine times.
For Zari, it is acceptable to get in a relationship with a man regardless of age as long as he has abs and sex appeal. The only agemates she dated must have been Ivan Ssemwanga and Rasta Rob.
For the rest, she has always looked down. She is 42, but her present boyfriend, Shakib, is 22 years.
Her most prominent conquest and father of her two kids, Diamond Platnumz, is 10 years her junior. There has been the likes of King Bae and many others.
Bad Black
Shanita Namuyimba, like Zari, has seen them all. After ending up in jail for fleecing an old Briton of sh11b, the 33-year-old shuns old men like a plague whether it is for a fling.
She seems to have settled in a relationship with Asha Panda, 25. The two recently got engaged. Her list is impressive though.
Abdula Aziz Kilooto
Her relationship with young singer Deus Ndugwa (Grenade) would have gone unnoticed had she not chosen to throw him behind bars.
She insists he stole from her, while the singer claims the older woman, who is of American-Arab descent, couldn’t stand him setting his sights and hands on younger women.
In his song, Wewanika, which followed his stint in jail, Grenade claimed she wanted him to herself and acted out of jealousy.
Monalisa
Guvnor Ace, a former musician from Chameleone’s Leone Island, first hit the news when he married a then 75-year old zungu lady, Monalisa, who was 40 years older than him.
The two received a lot of criticism from the public, but he did not heed it.
Together, they left the country for Sweden to start a new life. A little while of fun social media posts were followed by news of their separation, two months after arriving in Sweden.
Guvnor Ace moved on for another old woman known as Linea. They were married at a private civil ceremony at Uganda Registration Services Bureau offices on Amamu House, George Street.
Griet Onsea aka Dorotia
Two decades ago, when singer Jose Chameleone was mapping his musical way to stardom, he fell for the snare of an older Belgian woman called Griet Onsea.
The two had a daughter Ayla Onsea Mayanja and inspired a song, Dorotia.
The lovers separated under unclear circumstances and Dorotia left Uganda with the then young Ayla.
